Made for Pirate Software Game Jam 18

Cocoon  is a virtual pet simulator mixed with a visual novel where a cosmic being suddenly descends to earth to deliver judgement. Judgement based on the care a single human can provide its offspring. You play Sage Montalvo, a reclusive character, who now has to care for a hatchling and not mess up since the fate of the Earth (and her own) depends on how well she does. 

The whole world is watching you. Relying on you. Don't mess up. Or do.

My ultimate goal with this game was to get familiar with Gamemaker Studio 2 and GML code. As an artist I have very little experience and without my usual partner who handles the code I saw this as a great opportunity. The story and the art will definitely be lacking, but for the game jam I want to at least get one day going with  the pet care mechanic, objective array,  done before the end of the jam. After the jam I will continue working on the game to replace all the art, refine the story, and make sure each day and objective works correctly while being compelling. At this moment the “Is it fun?” question is up in the air while I work on “Can I understand how this code works?” and “Does this code work?” and “Why the fuck is -y up and +y down?”.
